Who Is Ria?
My pronouns are actually they/she, but really you can use whatever pronouns you want. Please refer to me as she, or he, or they, or it, or king queen prince princess lord helicopter whatever you can come up with. Do it. Especially if it’s funny.
No, that’s not me, that’s a dog. It’s not
even my dog. Her name is Rumba.
I’m a human, in case you were wondering.
Okay, okay, assuming you came here from the homepage, I’ll give you a bit more. I’ve spent most of my life in Colorado. I went to college in California and studied English and Communications.
Then✨COVID-19✨ hit—you might be familiar—and I was forced to come home from school… and I didn’t go back. Since then, depending on how you define it, I’ve either been doing my own thing for the past few years, or lots of other different people’s things. It’s been great.
I started my first serious, want-people-to-read-this story in seventh grade; I think I might still have it, actually. It was terrible, trust me, but I’m much, much better now, understanding words and having actually studied literature and the like.
The Peregrine (the first chapter of which is on my writing page, by the way) was my first real, finished novel, but between its relatively short length and the inevitable development of ideas and writing ability, I’ve pulled back on sending it out and I’m reworking parts of it.
My big project right now is my second novel, and it’s… well, it’s gonna end up at least four times as long as The Peregrine but I’m having a blast. I try not to blast strangers with the details but if you want to listen to me chatter on about it, let me know!
Most recently I’m living happily in my own teeny apartment in Colorado with my beautiful wonderful glorious cat, Lunacy, whom I adore. I’m working part-time as a barista at a local coffee shop I’ve loved for years, and describe myself otherwise as a “writer and jack-of-all-trades artist,” not just writing, but also making and occasionally selling things like jewelry, knitting, stickers, photography, and I’m currently learning traditional kintsugi! I’m chronically incapable of picking a lane.
If you have questions, want to know more about my art, or my books, or my cat, or what I’m currently reading, or literally if you feel like saying hi, please do! I love meeting and getting to know new people, especially if they let me talk about my random and varied interests
